3. Releases by Crime Type

The 18,977 releases consisted of the following Crime Types:

• Violent crimes accounted for a much smaller proportion of Releases (3,317 - 17%) than of admissions.

– the largest category in this crime type was Assault which totaled 1,508 and accounted for 46% in total violent crimes.

• Property crimes accounted for 6,738 (36%) of Releases.

– the largest category in this crime type was Breaking/Entering with a total of 2,592 and accounted for 39% in total property crimes.

• Public Order crimes, including non-trafficking drug crimes and driving while impaired, which are high volume crime groups, comprised the largest category with a total of 7,569 (40%) of Releases.

– Non-Trafficking drug crimes accounted for the majority (4,153 - 55%) of Releases of public order crimes.
