2. Population by Crime Type


On June 30, 1996, the prison population consisted of the following Crime Types:

- the largest population in this crime category was Robbery which totaled 4,425 and accounted for 31% of all violent crimes.

- the largest population in this crime type was Breaking/Entering with a total of 3,856 and accounted for 44% of property crimes.

- the largest population in this crime type was non-trafficking drug crimes with a total of 3,766 and accounted for 50% of public order crimes.
