3. Releases by Crime Type

The 19,074 releases consisted of the following Crime Types:

• Violent crimes accounted for a smaller proportion of Releases (3,347 - 18%) than of admissions.

- the largest category in this crime type was Assault which totaled 1,514 and accounted for 45% in total violent crimes.

• Property crimes accounted for 6,793 (36%) of Releases.

- the largest category in this crime type was Breaking/Entering with a total of 2,610 and accounted for 38% in total property crimes.

• Public Order crimes, including non-trafficking drug crimes and driving while impaired, which are high volume crime groups, comprised the largest category with a total of 7,588 (40%) of Releases.

- Non-Trafficking drug crimes accounted for the majority (4,158 - 55%) of Releases of public order crimes.
