2. Population by Crime Type

On June 30, 1996, the parole population totaled 15,455 and consisted of the following Crime Types:

• Violent crimes accounted for 2,338 (15%) of the population.

- the largest population in this crime type was Robbery which totaled 856 and accounted for 37% in total violent crimes.

• Property crimes accounted for 6,026 (39%) of the year-end population.

- the largest population in this crime type was Breaking/Entering with a total of 2,676 and accounted for 44% in total property crimes.

• Public Order crimes, including non-trafficking drug crimes and driving while impaired, accounted for a total of 5,830 (38%) of the population.

- the largest population in this crime type was Non-Trafficking Drugs with a total of 3,950 and accounted for 68% in total public order crimes.
