Correctional officer O.Z. Murphy mans the control center. He answers all phone calls and controls the gates and doors. "It’s the focal point of the unit," Murphy said. "Everyone goes through here." He has been with the department for three and a half years.

Correctional officer Curtis Edwards has worked for the state for 24 years, the last 16 with DOC. Edwards works the four dormitories that primarily house the inmates who work and attend education classes. "I like having the chance to be a positive role model," Edwards said. "The system works when we do our job." Correctional officer Al Burch oversees the prison’s canteen operations. He keeps a close check on the canteen finances and makes sure the canteens are well stocked. Burch joined the department at Wayne in 1995.
Ambrous Archie has worked with the department for 13 years. He worked at Nash before moving to Wayne. He’s worked in food service for the last 30 years, 22 of those years in the U.S. Army. "We take pride in everything we prepare," said Archie who manages a staff of seven correction employees and 28 inmates. Food Service Assistant Thomas Anderson has been working in food service at Wayne for three years. Sgt. Ronnie Bryant has been with the department for 13 years. He started at Eastern Correctional Institution and moved to Wayne in 1989. When he supervises the eight dormitories of the 208-Buildling, he’s responsible for working the dining hall.
