APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT

The Application Development Section is primarily responsible for the design, development, testing, implementation and maintenance of the Department’s computerized systems. In addition to OPUS (Offender Population Unified System), a large scale mainframe application, Application Development, along with major participation of the client community, has successfully implemented systems incorporating some of the newest technologies available, including client server and INTERNET/INTRANET applications. Application Development is very dynamic with respect to its organizational structure. At present, this section is divided into three teams: Offender Systems, Fiscal Systems, and the Application Architecture team.

The Objective of the Offender Systems Team is to ensure the availability of the operational functionality needed by the Division of Prisons and Division of Community Corrections to effectively manage their respective systems. This team is responsible for the analysis, design, programming and support of the following systems:
