Of the 102,597 total population on June 30, 1996, there were 21,182 females.

• Females accounted for 21% of the year-end population.

• The peak age range of female population was age 30 to 34 years (20.3%).

Males accounted for 81,415.

• Males accounted for 79% of population.

• The peak age range of male population was age 20 to 24 (20.2%).

• A larger proportion of males than of females were in the youngest age groups.

• There were the same number of males in the age range 45 to 49 as over age 50.
