Spotlight on OSDT - Eastern Region - page 1
Five Office of Staff Development and Training instructors work out of the Eastern Region at the Fort Fisher National Guard Training Center. Correctional Training Coordinator Bill Goodman said the site is used as an academy and is the only place in the Eastern Region that can house students overnight. | ![]() |
The training center is on
the site of the old Fort Fisher. The ocean has now
covered the actual fort, but earthen mounds of old
ammunition stockpile sites are near the new buildings
owned by the National Guard. The land itself is protected
by the Federal Government. The five instructors teach 160 hours of basic training to a group of students for four weeks. The day we caught up with the group, instructors were teaching unarmed self-defense training. |
